1. Story and practice background

A startup planner who launched a new service is reporting to the CEO. The CEO sighed after clicking through a total of 9 complex procedures on his mobile phone, including waiting for order, product selection, coupon deduction, payment overlay pop-up, identity verification, and payment method confirmation. 'Less than 15% of customers who sign up reach the final payment, so if there is such a great sense of disconnection and there is a lot of page movement, who will complete the payment? He shouted, “Cut out the movement line drastically and completely reorganize it into a simplified flow that ends within 3 seconds after pressing the payment button.”

2. Learning objectives

  • You can systematically diagram the customer's payment steps from shopping cart to payment completion.
  • It can identify inefficiencies such as duplicate authentication and micro-page movements that cause churn and friction.
  • With advice from an AI assistant, you can design a simplified order/payment integrated overlay (TO-BE Flow) plan of 3 steps or less.

3. Codex AI prompt card

Copy and paste the prompt below into the AI question and answer window of Codex Client and receive guidance.

Read the current multi-step checkout flow (`day9_current_checkout_flow.md`) and find two barriers that might cause users to run away due to fatigue before clicking checkout. Also, please derive an improved payment user flow (TO-BE Flow) that is reduced to 3 steps or less by merging unnecessary steps so that email sign-up users can complete the purchase as quickly as possible.
